TEACHING ONLINE AT QUINNIPIAC
Instructional Design at Quinnipiac offers a brief online training course for faculty who are new to teaching online. This video serves as an introduction to that course, and is intended to help ease the intimidation factor that is common for new online faculty. Professors Mumm, Nadeau, and Powers are faculty members that I work with on a regular basis, and graciously agreed to let me interview them for this project. B-roll video is combined with screen recordings of actual QU online learning tools to demonstrate options available to faculty.
LIGHTBOARD INTRODUCTION
I built and operate Quinnipiac’s lightboard studio, having designed the studio based on Dr. Michael Peshkin’s invention. This video is intended to introduce the studio and demonstrate its functionality. It is used in our faculty training course, campus workshops, and anywhere where a “virtual tour“ is useful.
OTD RESIDENCY WEEK
In my role as an Instructional Designer & Content Developer for Online Programs at Quinnipiac, I work closely with the Occupational Therapy department, specifically the online Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program. Each summer, second-year OTD students from around the country travel to Quinnipiac’s York Hill campus to fulfill their 1-week residency requirement. This video is intended to provide a glimpse of what these students can expect during their time on campus, what the living arrangements look like, and of course the beautiful campus facilities.
INTRODUCTION TO VOICETHREAD
VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and presentation software popular in Quinnipiac’s online courses. This video is used to provide online students with an overview of the software as well as directions for use.
Introduction to Zoom
Zoom is a web conferencing tool frequently used in Quinnipiac’s online courses. This video is intended to provide faculty with directions for getting started with the software.
Nursing Lightboard Lecture
This is an example of a video created with the Quinnipiac lightboard studio. I am able to design and implement similar equipment setups, and can adjust purchasing to suit a range of budgets. To date, I have facilitated over 400 videos using this studio.
